My 6B and 7B classes did a warm-up that introduced probability and then did a probability lesson (sections 10-5 and 10-6 from the book). Due tomorrow: page 747 #2-9

Chapter 8 Re-Test day (5/11/12)
Today, we did the chapter 8 re-test! I'm sorry I didn't update Wednesday and Thursday, I was out sick on Thursday, and was proctoring an EOC Wednesday, and I forgot!
A heads up for next week:
It will be really, really important to have your UPDATED stock chart in class every day next week. We're going to be finishing the project! Also, bring your textbooks Monday because you will need them for an activity, and I will start checking books in!

Factoring Review Days (2 and 3) (5/7-5/8)
The past couple of days have varied a little bit class to class, due to the EOC testing. However, generally, we've been doing the factoring review sheets and updated the stock charts every day! Today, 6B and 7B also did a "chain reaction" activity which was a factoring puzzle.

Factoring Review Day #1 (5/4)
Today, students checked on their stocks and recorded the daily share prices for their companies. After that, we had a lesson reviewing prime factorization, GCF, and factoring by pulling out the GCF. Students worked in pairs on a worksheet covering those skills. Student also all received a progress report that had their current grade as of today. Towards the end of class, they had a chance to do test corrections or turn in missing work from when they were absent.

Project Day #1 (5/2/12)
Yesterday was the EOC! I hope everyone tried their best!
Today was the first day of our stock market project. The students all picked three companies in which to invest their imaginary $10,000. After getting an overview and timeline of due dates from me, they all got a laptop to do research on their companies. Students had to go ahead and get the share prices for today, record them on their spreadsheet, decide how many shares from each company to buy, and figure out how much extra money they have after buying all of their shares.
Every day, the students need to record their share prices for the day by going to http://finances.yahoo.com/ and getting a quote for their particular companies.
